Porsche Track Car – Part 9 Engine Assembly Top End

I finally got my head back with new valve guides, valves ground, and the head shaved flat.  Did I mention that I gouged the cylinder head to block surface prying the head off?  The shop had to take 0.050″ off of the block to get it to “clean up”.  After consulting with one of the Lindsey brothers, I bought a built up Cometic gasket to get the clearance between the valves and the pistons back into the proper range.  I’ve got a lot of pictures and not a whole lot to say.  Here we go with the top end assembly.

Artistic shot!

Water pump installed

Clutch plates installed

Oil cooler. BTW, the oil pressure relief valve in there was found to be stuck shut. May have been a cause for the balance shaft bearing failure?

Cam tower not installed yet.

Done!
